Most of Ohio is Democratic according to the map shown to the left and in 2008, a stated that Ohio has more Democrats that Republicans. Though most of Ohio are Democrats, Republican John Kasich was elected governor January 10, 2011. Ohio was home to 7 U.S. Presidents, more than any other state, and all of them were Republicans. Barack Obama, our present day president, is a Democrat and won 51.50% of Ohio's voting. In 2008, the U.S. House of Representatives gained two new Democratic Ohioans, while Republican Ohioans have 8 seats.
Demographic Features
Most of Ohio are Caucasian (86.83%), followed by African Americans (12.18%), then Hispanic (2.3%), then Asian/Pacific Islander( 1.5%), then mixed race (1.3%), then Native American/Alaskan Native (0.2%), finally,other races (0.1%). The top five ancestry groups in Ohio as of 2007 are German, Irish, English, Polish, and Italian. 3.6% of Ohio are foreign-born. Most of Ohio are Christian, taking up most of the population (73%). Females are 51.3% of Ohio's gender group.
