Serpent's Mound
Ohio, like all states, has its superstitions, and how would you feel having a prehistoric site, said to have mystical purposes. Located in Adams County, Serpent's Moundis a mound that represents a snake; it’s nearly 1,330 ft. long. The ends line up with the sun’s position on the two solstices.
Cuyahoga Valley Recreational Area
The Cuyahoga Valley stretches over 33,000 acres of land between Cleveland and Akron. The valley got its name from the river it surrounds, the Cuyahoga River. The valley is home to many beautiful forests, majestic hills, and large open farmland. You can always find hikers, bikers, horse-back riders, and just strollers in this area on the trails. In the winter, this valley is great for skiing, ice-skating, snowshoeing, and more. The trails will lead you through time through historic towns.
Lake Erie
If you have a chance at visiting one of the Great Lakes, you should take the opportunity. Ohio is near the tip of the U.S. and is near one of the five Great Lakes, Lake Erie. Lake Erie is the shallowest of the five Great Lakes. Though it may seem majestic at first, Lake Erie can host violent storms that has sent ships to their death. Lake Erie is the fourth largest, and id larger to only Lake Ontario. Though small, Lake Erie has the largest body of water, stretching all the way from Toledo, to Buffalo, New York.
Ohio River
The Ohio River is the largest tributary of the Mississippi River. It's 981 miles long. The river was very important to the first Native Americans that lived in Ohio. It provided irrigation and water for the tribes that formed along the river. The Ohio River was also used as a trading route and transportation.
